DSSDI - The turn-key project for “CREATION OF DELHI STATE SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCUTRE (DSSDI) FOR GNCTD” has been initiated by Survey of India (SOI) as a 3D GIS solution including generation of large-scale base map from the aerial photographs obtained in 2007 to cover the state of National Capital Territory of Delhi in an area of about 1500 sq kms.

A spatial data infrastructure (SDI) is a framework of spatial data, metadata, users and tools that are interactively connected in order to use spatial data in an efficient and flexible way. SDI is the coordination of the collection, creation, dissemination, and storage of spatial data between stakeholders of any area of interest (e.g. Country, State, district, region etc.) in a distributed system (collection, processing, storage and provision to the users). An SDI Portal provides access to geographic data and services through a set of tools (Query, Search, Display) on geospatial data holdings and services with ability for interactive display.Delhi Geoportal is currently serving applications to various line departments of Government of National capital territory of Delhi/ Government of India.
The features in Delhi Geo-Portal, helps the users of the line departments to get the solution of their geospatial problems through:-
• Legend
• Query
• Analysis
• Reports
• Navigation Tools
A legend ("placed in the table of content within the application") is based on some information that is perceived both by creator and user defined by a highly flexible set of parameters, to keep it fresh and vital, and realistic. The legend has the following significance in this portal:
• User can see all the layers.
• User can disable & enable the layer by clicking the check boxes.
• Layers are displayed in a tree structure at the left side of the screen.
• Some layers are department specific.
Properties:
User can see the attribute data (as Name of the variables and Values of the same) of the selected area of specific layer on the map in the 'Table of Content' below the legend box.QueryIn general, a query is a form of questioning, in a line of inquiry which will refer to request for information retrieval with existing database and information systems.
Following facilities for query are available to users:
• Search by the features.
• Search result will display.
• One can build query based on logical steps provided in the system.
• Provision has been made to save query as book mark.
• Attribute query Builder tool is also provided.
Analysis:
The heart of GIS is the analytical capabilities of the system. The spatial analysis functions distinguish the GIS system from other information system. E.g. Proximity analysis, network analysis, Shortest route finder tools etc. ReportWritten reports are the documents which present specific, focused content, often the result of an investigation, or inquiry to a specific audience. In Delhi GeoPortal, specific report will be generated based on the above type of queries and analysis.
User can view the data based on selected criteria in both crystal report view and HTML view.
In report view the crystal report obtained can be printed, viewed, saved, exported in/to different formats which are available inbuilt. Navigation ToolbarIn a graphical user interface on a computer monitor a toolbar is a GUI widget/control on which onscreen buttons, icons, menus or other input or output elements are placed. The following facilities are available in controlling the map window and displayed spatial features:
• View (Initial View, Previous View, Next View).
• Zoom (Zoom In, Zoom out, Rectangular Zoom In, Pan Mode).
• Selection (Selection, Clear Selection, Refresh map).
• Measurements (Distance between two points, Measurement Option, Print). Scale (Automatic, Manual).
• Logout.
